Welcome
Rev. Dr. Donita Edwards is a native of Hampton Roads. She is a
product of the Chesapeake School System. She is the "knee baby" of
(retired pastor) Dr. James and Rev. Delores Edwards, III.
Dr.
Donita is a mother, grand-mere, ordained minister, communicator,
disability advocate, entrepreneur, and 3x author. She has over 25 years
of experience implementing projects that required her to hone her gifts
of strategic planning, innovation, teaching, and administration. Her
extensive professional and ministerial experience includes serving as
Youth Minister, Learning Center Administrator/Director, Phyllis Young
Ministries' Administrator, Singles Pastor, Christian Educator,
Intercessor, Radio Host, and Instructor.
She earned her Bachelor
of Science Degree (2001) from Norfolk State University, Master of
Divinity Degree in Practical Theology (2007), and Doctor of Ministry
Degree in Christian Leadership and Renewal (2021) from Regent
University, Virginia Beach, VA. Dr. Donita's doctoral dissertation
focused on a contextualized curriculum designed to create a special
needs ministry.
She is the founder of Birthright Kingdom
Deliverance Ministries, Inc., and host of a social media platform called
Disability in the Church LIVE. A large amount of her personal life
consists of serving her family, her home church (the Mount @
Chesapeake), and organizations such as Norfolk State University Alumni
Association,
Christian Women Alliance, and (previously) the
Tidewater Metro Baptist Ministers Conference of VA.
Part of her
assignment in the earth is to help close the divide between (dis)ability
and ability. As an ordained minister and caregiver for her oldest
daughter, Blake, who was diagnosed with Down Syndrome, she relates to
the stigma that accompanies disabilities culturally. Moreover, she
understands that the Church needs an effective plan to reach individuals
with disabilities. Together, she and her daughter host events that
promote self-confidence, positivity, and inclusion. Dr. Edwards and her
staff also conduct disability and faith workshops, as well as staff and
organizational training.
The mission is to educate, encourage, partner, and empower the
Body of Christ. We host quarterly activities in the community that
promote positive self-image, purpose, and spiritual development.

Did you know that disability exists in the Bible from Genesis to Revelation? What is the Church's role with regard to individuals with disabilities? Does the Church lose its relevance if it is not partnering with persons of unique abilities? These and other difficult questions are addressed Saturdays @ 10 am EST. Every FB episode examines disability through a practical, biblical, and cultural lens. Our assignment is to be the tool God uses to close the divide between (dis)ability and ability. Click Here
